SeenByAI is a Shopify application operated by [Your Company Name] ("we", "us", "our"). We help Shopify merchants optimise their product data for discovery by AI-powered search engines. This policy explains how we collect, use and protect information when you install and use our app.

2. What data we collect

We collect the following categories of data when you use SeenByAI:

• Shopify store data — product titles, descriptions, metadata, tags, images and schema markup, accessed via the Shopify Admin API with your authorisation.
• Merchant account information — your Shopify store name, email address and plan type, used to identify your account and provide the service.
• App usage data — which features you use, your visibility score history, and actions taken within the app (e.g. running audits, applying fixes).
• Technical logs — server-side logs including request timestamps, error events and performance metrics. These do not contain personal data beyond IP addresses.

We do not collect data about your customers or buyers, and we do not have access to order data, payment information or any financial records.

3. How we use your data

We use the data we collect solely to provide and improve the SeenByAI service:

• To analyse your product catalogue and generate your AI visibility score
• To identify and apply schema and metadata improvements to your store
• To track AI engine referral traffic and surface it in your dashboard
• To send transactional emails (e.g. audit complete notifications)
• To investigate and resolve support requests
• To improve the accuracy and performance of our optimisation engine

We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell it to any third party.

4. Data sharing

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data. We may share data with the following categories of third-party service providers, solely to operate the service:

• Cloud infrastructure — Railway (hosting and compute)

7. GDPR and UK GDPR

For merchants based in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, we act as a data processor on your behalf when processing Shopify store data. You remain the data controller for that information.

Our lawful basis for processing merchant account data is the performance of a contract (providing the SeenByAI service you have installed). Our lawful basis for usage analytics is our legitimate interest in improving the service.

If you are located in the UK and have a complaint about our handling of your data, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

8. Shopify compliance webhooks

As a Shopify App Store application, we subscribe to Shopify's mandatory compliance webhooks. This means we respond to the following data subject request types within 30 days:

• Customer data requests (GDPR data subject access requests)
• Customer data deletion requests
• Shop data deletion requests (when a merchant uninstalls the app)

9. Cookies

The SeenByAI app is embedded within the Shopify admin and does not use third-party cookies. Our marketing website (seenbyai.co) uses no tracking cookies. We use a privacy-first analytics provider that does not set cookies or fingerprint visitors.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify active merchants of material changes via email or an in-app notice. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
